Here Comes Ski Rex – The Annual Labor Day Ski Sale

28 July 2014
Burton Riglets learn-to-ride section and Keystone food truck added this year

Denver, Colo., July 24, 2014 — For more than 20 years, bargain hunting skiers and
snowboarders have made the annual SKI REX sale part of their Labor Day weekend tradition. Located at six Front Range locations, including all four Colorado Ski & Golf stores, Colorado Ski & Sports in Park Meadows and Boulder Ski Deals, the sale has developed a loyal following for its deep discounts of 30-75 percent off skis, boots, snowboards, bindings, clothing and accessories. New this year, air conditioning is being added to the sale tent at the Aurora location to keep shoppers cool as they pile up their purchases. While shoppers take advantage of both overstocked and specially purchased inventory from last season, SKI REX is also the place to snag the newest gear and 2014-15 year models at pre-season prices.

Enhancing the ramped up pre-season energy is the addition this year of Burton’s Riglet Park at the Colorado Ski & Golf location in Aurora. This industry-leading learn-to-ride course allows little snowboarders guided by instructors to glide along an artificial snow surface with mini bumps and ramps. For adults, the Keystone food truck will be parked at the perimeter of the outdoor tent in Aurora so shoppers can grab a snack between bouts of shopping. Shoppers at any of the locations may also be randomly chosen for a free giveaway including five Epic Local Passes, daily lift tickets or ski and snowboard gear over the two-week period of the SKI REX sale.

During the sale, parents may also sign up their kids for the value-centric Junior Trade In ski/snowboard exchange program for young skiers. The budget-friendly program provides deeply discounted prices on full set-ups (skis, bindings, poles, boots, safety check) for both new and used equipment for children and teens who enroll in the annual program. The price for the entire first season is $99.99 for a used equipment set-up and $199.99 for a new equipment set-up. For every subsequent season, the price drops to only $49.99/year for used equipment and $99.99 for new equipment. Sign up and gear selection during the early season offers the advantage of providing youth with the largest range of equipment choices and sizes in both new and used equipment categories. The program is available to snowboarders as well at a slightly higher price.

Under the “one stop shopping” umbrella, shoppers can also register their 5th and 6th graders for Vail Resort’s School of Shred program that offers four days of free skiing/riding at each of Vail’s Colorado resorts and for “never-evers,” one free day of rentals and a beginner lesson. Vail Resort’s Epic Pass products will also be on sale at all store locations throughout the weekend and provide access to Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin in Colorado as well as properties in Utah, California/Nevada, Michigan, Minnesota and partner resorts around the world.

For the seventh consecutive year, ski recycling will be available for skiers and riders planning to clean old gear and equipment out of sheds, garages and closets can bring their old equipment to any of the SKI REX locations and drop off unwanted skis, snowboards, cross-country skis, boots, poles and bindings for recycling. Equipment in good condition is donated to charitable  programs. Gear that is no longer usable is transported to a regional recycling facility. To date, 480 tons (that’s TONS) of ski gear has been recycled and kept OUT of landfills since September 2008 when the program launched.

SKI REX hours at all locations:
Saturday, Aug. 30 from 9am to 6pm
Sunday, Aug. 31 from 10am to 5pm
Labor Day Monday (Sept. 1) from 10am to 5pm.

SKI REX sale prices remain in effect through Sunday, Sept. 14 at all these stores:
  • Colorado Ski & Golf - 2650 S. Havana, Aurora
  • Colorado Ski & Golf - 7715 Wadsworth, Arvada
  • Colorado Ski & Golf - 8100 W. Crestline, Littleton

  • Colorado Ski & Sports - 8691 Park Meadows Center Drive, Lone Tree

All SKI REX purchases include the Colorado Ski & Golf guarantee of complete satisfaction. If shoppers aren’t satisfied with their new skis, board or boots after three days on the slopes, they can exchange it. Plus, SKI REX prices are guaranteed the lowest in the nation. If shoppers find a lower price on a sale item anywhere else, Colorado Ski & Golf stores will beat it.
